Pure Joy comes to a Screeching Halt

These pictures were taken yesterday. The day of the trampoline's arrival. It was joy, pure joy for all involved. (Just see the previous post.)
Then, comes Sunday, and the big talk about whether jumping on the trampoline fits under the requirements for "Sunday Observance." We pulled out the "For the Strength of Youth" booklet and had a meaty conversation. Tough, when the trampoline is new. The concensus was that sitting or laying on the tramp was ok. Oh, the temptation...it was like sending a recovering alcoholic into a bar. Torture. However, they found a new enjoyment for the trampoline...reading books on it can be fun, but awfully annoying if anyone should bounce. (Sis just couldn't help herself...she just didn't get why we weren't jumping.)
So, to all the trampoline jumping nations out there...I'm curious...does your trampoline rest on the Sabbath or is it an ok activity at your house. I'd love to hear your opinions! Thanks!

Sorry we're not a better example for you. Our trampoline definitely does not rest on the Sabbath. It's one of our better ways to get the kids to get their energy and wiggles out peacefully. It also happens to be some of their favorite time all week to be spent with Dad on the trampoline. However, it has been used for journal writing and reading as well. I guess we got it when the kids were so young that the issue was never brought up. Hadn't thought about it. We do, however, have a rule of no playing with friends on the Sabbath, so that cuts down on the backyard play and makes it seem calm around here with just our kids outside. Good luck with this one.

We just finished an FHE on the Sabbath...funny timing! I'll be checking back for updates, since we don't have a trampoline. :)

That a toughie. We often say we don't do --- because doing it would make Sunday too much like any other day and we want it to be special.
