T-H-E...I can spell...

For preschool, we found a great music CD made by a Kindergarten teacher. She takes simple, familiar songs teaches children to spell sight words in the songs. I've seen the power of music in teaching children. I couldn't resist the "science experiment"--I wanted to see if the kids really learn how to spell sight words through these songs.

Jenna, ever the music/dance lover, really likes the songs. She was singing them in the car (without music). Here's what I heard her sing:

T-H-E, T-H-E, I can spell LOVE, T-H-E

Jason quickly corrected her. She misheard Jason and replaced the word "LOVE" with "Duh."

Looks like the Science Experiment might need a little more practice.

Or maybe Jenna inherited my ability to misunderstand music lyrics...

Isn't it funny what we think we hear in songs? My kids thought the Clifford title song went "Clifford meeted Emily..." and wasn't that weird that PBS of all places would use such bad English. Um, it's "needed" guys. Oh.
